Rosie While
digging further through my scrap book from Jr. High, I came across this little
newspaper from 8th grade, called Pine Seedlings. As with
Teepee Talk, I thought some
of you might enjoy this. The
following was written by Sue Pennala for Seelings The

While looking for old photos, I came across an old Jr. High school newspaper
from 1958 when we were in the 9th grade. Because there are many notes
written on it and the print is so small, it would not scan well. Anyway,
I thought the following would be of interest to everyone:(copied exactly as written) Rosalie

Way to go everyone!!
Last year when our family went on our trip
to
I was new to the ranch life. My
first job was to feed the turkeys. I thought tje
job to be a particularly ease one, even for a city slicker, as we were often
called.
As I went out the door they yelled a
warning, something about the gobbler but I was too interested in what task lay
ahead of me to even listen. So the warning went without any notice.
As I was feeding the turkeys and admiring
their beauty my eye caught on a huge, beautiful, proud looking bird. At my
first glance he facinated me. I approached him
rather cautiously then with a loud noise he ran at me flapping his
wings. I didn't know what to do. I ran as fast as I could, with him
close at my heels, to the nearest tree. I couldn't make it to the first
branch! With him almost on top of me I ran to the stream. With all
my clothes on I plunged into the water. I waded across to the opposite
bank. Soaking wet I sat on the bank, quite out of
breath. I watched the gobbler stalk proudly away.
The rest of my vacationI
was "aware of the gobbler".
